Wednesday 22nd June

For your homework this week, please continue to practise and learn the words of the songs for our concert next week.

There is also an activity on Purple Mash on teeth and the digestive system.

 

 

Wednesday 8th June

Our music concert is fast approaching and so your homework for this week is to practice the songs and learn the words off by heart!    ENJOY!!

Wednesday 25th May

After the half term holiday, we will be learning about 'Life in Ancient Rome'.

Your homework for the holiday is to research a little about the following topics and create a poster for our History display:

The location of Ancient Rome

The Monarchy, Republic, Empire: Rome’s different governments

Pompeii

A day in the life of Ancient Rome 

Latin: A Roman legacy

 

Please bring your poster to school during the week commencing June 6th.

 

Wednesday 18th May

 

A choice of 2do's have been set on Purple Mash. You can focus on one task or you may like to complete them all. 

 

  • Read Chapter 1 of Beth and the Nile and then complete the online multiple choice questions 
  • Have fun creating some Egyptian Hieroglyphics 
  • Edit and complete the Tutankhamun quiz using your knowledge from this week's lesson and your previous homework 

 

On going learning - the children have been working so hard to develop their times tables knowledge. We have set a 2do on Purple Mash which your child can play called Multiplication quiz 12 X 12. Please encourage your child to also practice on TTRS and Hit the Button during the May half term break. 

 

Monday 23rd May 

Just a reminder our trip to the Museum is next Monday. Children will need to wear their school uniform on this day with comfortable shoes, a packed lunch and a bottle of water. Please NO glass/cans, sweets or fizzy drinks. 

 

Tuesday 24th May 

Sports day from 1:30pm - We welcome you to join us to and support your child in our Commonwealth themed sports day. The children have been very supportive and encouraging during our practices. Your child will need to wear their PE kit. 

 

Wednesday 25th May

Jubilee Street Party - Wear red, white or blue to celebrate! 

 

Wednesday 11th May

Complete your '2do' on Purple Mash about Tutankhamun. If you require a paper copy please ask. This piece of homework is due back on Tuesday 17th May and will be referred to during our History lesson. Please note we will print the completed copies submitted via Purple Mash.

 

Due to the earlier hand in date. we will give the children some time in class to research.

Wednesday 4th May

Complete your '2do' on Purple Mash on Ancient Gods and Goddesses. There are various facts and information you will need to read. If you prefer, you can pick your own Ancient Egyptian God to write about. If you require a paper copy please ask. This homework is due back on Wednesday 11th May and will be referred to during our History lesson. Please note we will print the completed copies submitted via Purple Mash.

Homework this week is all about times tables!!

Go to your 2Dos on Purple Mash and have a go at the speed tests.

A TTRS tournament will begin on Friday 29th and last until Wednesday.

PE days

As we enter the Summer term, Year 4 will continue to have PE on Mondays and Wednesdays. We aim to be outside more. Please ensure your child is dressed appropriately for the typical British Summer.

Easter homework

 

After the Easter break, we will be learning about Ancient Egypt in History. To support the children further in this topic, we would like your child to produce a poster of information which will be referred to in lessons and possibly go on display!

 

You could include information and pictures about any of the following: Life in Egypt, The River Nile, Religion, Afterlife, Tutankhamen, Howard Carter, and Hieroglyphics. Paper has been provided to do this piece of homework. 

 

Please bring your completed poster in on Monday 25th April.

This week we have started our new Maths topic: Decimals. Please complete the Set 2Do on Purple Mash. 

 

Year 4 have also been learning about Playscripts. During English lessons the children have identified features used in Playscripts and have also been busy acting!

This week in Maths, we have been finding fractions of quantities. Go to Purple Mash 2DOs and complete the fraction activities.

Wednesday 2nd March

 

Go to your 2Dos on Purple Mash. You have been set 3 activities involving adding and subtracting fractions as well as matching improper to mixed fractions.

HW '2do'

 

Complete the Equivalent Fractions activity on Purple Mash. There is a Fraction wall image included to support you. Remember to think about the objects and resources you have used at school this week. We will continue learning about Fractions next week. 

 

 

Wednesday 9th February

2LOGO

In ICT we have been working on 2LOGO computer programming to instruct a tortoise to move and draw patterns. During half term, keep practising your skills and see what you can achieve! We will be continuing this topic after half term.

TTRS

A new battle has been launched against Year 5! Come on Year 4, you can beat them...but you need to work as a team! Everyone needs to earn points! 

Wednesday 2nd February

We have been using fraction walls in Maths to explore equivalent fractions. Go to Purple Mash and in your 2DOs you will find 3 levels of fraction wall building to arrange.

Fractions! 

 

In Maths Year 4 are learning about Fractions. Your homework for this week is to play "Fractonio's Pizzeria" on Purple Mash. 

Wednesday 19th January

Following our recent multiplication and division units of work in Maths, it is clear that many children still need to improve their times tables knowledge and recall. Even those who are Rockstars need to keep up with their recall,

This week's homework is to practice on TT Rockstars EVERY day for at least 10 minutes. We have set a girls vs boys tournament!! Who will win? 

 

 

Wednesday 12th January 

 

This week Year 4 have been learning about multiplication and division where various methods have been explored. The children have worked hard to use their inverse skills and number knowledge. A '2do' has been set on Purple Mash to complete. The level of challenge can be chosen to explore division facts including factor knowledge.

 

We will soon be moving onto our next Maths block of Measurement where we will look at Area.

In Science Year 4 are learning about Ecology. This week we have explored various types of Habitats and Mirco-habitats. Complete the Science '2do' set on Purple Mash.

Well done for writing your fact files about Viking Gods, they were very interesting. 

 

1. We would like you to complete a poster about the Christmas journey, this has been set as a '2do' on purple mash, there is a video to watch first. 

 

2. We have also added ALL times tables from 1 - 12 to complete on TTRS this week so please continue to play and improve your scores. Remember it is about knowing the timetables facts through practice then you will be able to develop your speed.

1. Write a book review. You can choose whether to write about a book you have read yourself or our recent class text, Anglo Saxon Boy.

2. On Thursday 18th November, you will be learning about King Alfred. Complete the poster with information about his life.

Log onto your Purple Mash and complete your '2do's.

 

1. Science '2do' - Test your memory and knowledge by sorting the animals into the correct groups. You will need to remember the features of certain groups to complete this. We have learnt this in class. 

 

2. Maths '2do' - Complete the timed card game by matching the timetable and answers within 5 minutes. This is to support your speed and recognition of various times tables. Lets see if we can beat our classroom score! 

 

3. Science/English '2do' - Write an explanation text about the life cycle of a butterfly. Focus on using features learnt in class. For example - how many chronological words can you include? (Firstly, next, two weeks later) Scientific vocabulary? (hatch, butterfly, emerge). You will need to research the life cycle first before completing this task.

1. History 2do  - Write about the Vikings Longships. Use the information provided and the knowledge you have learnt in History lessons.

Wednesday 27th October - Homework due Wednesday 3rd November 

 

1. Log onto your Purple Mash and complete your '2do'. You will creatively explain in a leaflet how Diwali is celebrated. Remember to watch the clip first before producing your leaflet. You should also use paragraphs and interesting vocabulary. 

 

2. Reading Logs - How many times do you read to an adult at home? Remember to ask your adult to comment in your reading diary. 

 

 

Wednesday 13th October 2021 - Half Term Homework

 

Please spend some time relaxing in the holidays. We have already sent your Spellings and Mental Maths books home for revision. Spellings are also on Spelling Shed. After Half Term, we will be moving onto our next topic in Maths - Measurement, Length and Perimeter. On Purple Mash you will find a '2do' on converting measurements. You will need to know that 1 metre is 100 centimetres and 1 Kilometre is 1000 metres. How many questions can you get right? Ask your adult to teach you simple conversions. 

 

Black History Month 

Research and write a fact file on Purple Mash, it has been set as a '2do'. 

 

Art - Autumn Fun

Enjoy the season of leaves, trees and Pumpkins! Create your own still life picture at home identifying the Ground and Caste Shadow, just like we did at School.  You can send a picture in using your Purple Mash account.
