Homework

Wednesday 12th January 

 

This week Year 4 have been learning about multiplication and division where various methods have been explored. The children have worked hard to use their inverse skills and number knowledge. A '2do' has been set on Purple Mash to complete. The level of challenge can be chosen to explore division facts including factor knowledge.

 

We will soon be moving onto our next Maths block of Measurement where we will look at Area.   

 

 

 

 

Wednesday 4th January 2022 

 

In Science Year 4 are learning about Ecology. This week we have explored various types of Habitats and Mirco-habitats. Complete the Science '2do' set on Purple Mash.

 

  

Wednesday 15th December

 

There are some fun activities on Purple Mash, if you want a challenge! Otherwise, just have a wonderful Christmas holiday! Keep up with your TT Rockstars, enjoy reading any new books you get and we'll see you in the New Year!

We are sorry for all the disruptions caused last week with our online learning resources. New password information will come home with your child today. Please let us know if you are still having trouble accessing Purple Mash, Spelling Shed etc...

 

1. Complete your 2do about Christmas. You will need to research facts about what gifts were given to Baby Jesus by the Three Wise Men. 

 

2. Have a go playing the 2do - 'Multiplication Monster' timetable game.

Wednesday 1st December - HW due Wednesday 8th December 

 

Well done for writing your fact files about Viking Gods, they were very interesting. 

 

1. We would like you to complete a poster about the Christmas journey, this has been set as a '2do' on purple mash, there is a video to watch first. 

 

2. We have also added ALL times tables from 1 - 12 to complete on TTRS this week so please continue to play and improve your scores. Remember it is about knowing the timetables facts through practice then you will be able to develop your speed.

1. On Thursday 25th November, we will be learning about Viking gods. Write about them on Purple Mash.

2. A matching game- can you match the god to their picture? Keep an eye on the timer!

1. Write a book review. You can choose whether to write about a book you have read yourself or our recent class text, Anglo Saxon Boy.

2. On Thursday 18th November, you will be learning about King Alfred. Complete the poster with information about his life.

 

Wednesday 10th November - Homework due Wednesday 17th November

 

Log onto your Purple Mash and complete your '2do's.

 

1. Science '2do' - Test your memory and knowledge by sorting the animals into the correct groups. You will need to remember the features of certain groups to complete this. We have learnt this in class. 

 

2. Maths '2do' - Complete the timed card game by matching the timetable and answers within 5 minutes. This is to support your speed and recognition of various times tables. Lets see if we can beat our classroom score! 

 

3. Science/English '2do' - Write an explanation text about the life cycle of a butterfly. Focus on using features learnt in class. For example - how many chronological words can you include? (Firstly, next, two weeks later) Scientific vocabulary? (hatch, butterfly, emerge). You will need to research the life cycle first before completing this task.

1. History 2do  - Write about the Vikings Longships. Use the information provided and the knowledge you have learnt in History lessons. 

 

2. Maths 2do - Develop your understanding of perimeter. 

 

Wednesday 27th October - Homework due Wednesday 3rd November 

 

1. Log onto your Purple Mash and complete your '2do'. You will creatively explain in a leaflet how Diwali is celebrated. Remember to watch the clip first before producing your leaflet. You should also use paragraphs and interesting vocabulary. 

 

2. Reading Logs - How many times do you read to an adult at home? Remember to ask your adult to comment in your reading diary. 

 

 

Wednesday 13th October 2021 - Half Term Homework

 

Please spend some time relaxing in the holidays. We have already sent your Spellings and Mental Maths books home for revision. Spellings are also on Spelling Shed. After Half Term, we will be moving onto our next topic in Maths - Measurement, Length and Perimeter. On Purple Mash you will find a '2do' on converting measurements. You will need to know that 1 metre is 100 centimetres and 1 Kilometre is 1000 metres. How many questions can you get right? Ask your adult to teach you simple conversions. 

 

Black History Month 

Research and write a fact file on Purple Mash, it has been set as a '2do'. 

 

Art - Autumn Fun

Enjoy the season of leaves, trees and Pumpkins! Create your own still life picture at home identifying the Ground and Caste Shadow, just like we did at School.  You can send a picture in using your Purple Mash account.

1. Complete set '2do's on Purple Mash. In English this week and next week, Year 4 will be looking at poetry. Your homework is to complete the Poem activities, exploring different types of features such as alliteration and metaphors.

3. Develop your reading skills at home with an adult, try to read for at least 15 minutes a day. We like to check and read the comments in your child's reading diary to see how they are doing at home.

1. Complete set '2do' on Purple Mash. The activity is a labelling diagram of the ear and a quiz as we have just completed our Science topic about Sound. House points are awarded using the star icon in the comments section. Please encourage your child to look out for them.

1. Complete set '2do' on Purple Mash. The activity is to make the Newspaper report more appropriate. Next week, in class, we will be writing our own newspaper report. This activity is aimed to prepare your child to think and become a newspaper reporter! Remember the features and 5W's we have learnt about so far.
