‘Through God’s love, we are the rich soil where
roots grow and seeds flourish.’ Luke 8:4-15

Enabling children to flourish and succeed

Head Teacher's Welcome

I’m delighted to warmly welcome you to St Luke’s Primary School and to open the door a little, to life at our fantastic school.

St Luke’s is a single form entry, family focused school situated in the village of Thurnby on the edge of Leicester. Children at the school benefit greatly from our impressive setting which provides an ideal base for young people to develop spiritually, morally, educationally, emotionally and physically.

Our vision and ambition are that all our children, regardless of background or ability, develop to their full potential, engaging with the world creatively, compassionately, and confidently. Our mission 'Through God's love, we are the rich soil where roots grow and seeds flourish' Luke 8: 4-15, is intertwined with our aspiration that all children should continue to flourish as members of future societies from their positive start to education at the school.

At St Luke’s we truly value and support the important roles that families play in the life of a child. We believe that when parents are involved, children do better and achieve more. We work closely with our pupils, parents and wider school community to provide a caring, safe, happy and stimulating learning environment, where each child is supported, nurtured and inspired in developing their gifts and talents.

Building strong interpersonal relations is a key focus for us as a school community at all levels.  At St Luke’s we constantly strive for excellence in learning and recognise the importance of providing a broad and balanced curriculum where all are challenged. We believe that all pupils should be challenged educationally and personally to do their very best. Our school values of kindness, thankfulness, forgiveness, aspiration and perseverance helps build a setting where children have self-esteem and self-reliance, possessing the rounded skills needed in the society of today and tomorrow.

The staff, governors and I are very proud of our school: it has great people, pupils, facilities and a wider school community to ensure children have the positive stepping stones required for children to lead fulfilling lives. We hope that by visiting this website, it gives our families and visitors an insight into the life at our school where we have the best interest of all at heart.

Should you wish to visit the school or find out more, we would warmly invite you to contact the school office.

Thank you.

Mr Gavin Skye
