Choral event information

Dear Parents/Carers,

We hope you have had a lovely weekend. You should have received an email copy of information regarding our Choral event - Story Symphony last week including a paper copy handed to your child to bring home (These were given out last Tuesday). The letter is attached below this message if you didn't receive either.

It will be a busy but exciting day and the children sound amazing! We will leave St Luke's school to travel to the venue approximately around 13:30pm. The children will have lunch as normal at school. Please note that any book bags/backpacks brought in will have to stay at school. It maybe better for those having a packed lunch and tea to prepare both meals into two separate disposable bags to then discard during the day. This means that your child can come home without worrying about losing anything. It has also been suggested to do the same and bring in two disposable water bottles as well.

Thank you for your support.

Mrs Greer & Mrs Mitchell

Spring 2024

Headlice

We have been made aware that some parents have had to treat their children's hair for head lice. Please check your child's hair and follow the link below from the NHS for further advice. http://www.nhs.uk/conditions/head-lice-and-nits/

MTC meeting

Many thanks to all those who were able to attend the MTC meeting last Wednesday. The children have started learning more songs (Taylor Swift X6 on YouTube) and are now completing their unofficial MTC check this week in class. This will give us an indication of how your child is performing and what times-tables they need to work on.

Reminders

PE days are now Tuesdays (Swimming) and Fridays. Please remember to remove earrings and have long hair tied up.

Pupils need to bring their musical instruments in every Thursday.

Spelling and Times-tables tests are every Tuesday.

Godly Play

The children have enjoyed having Godly play today (29.1.24). In RE the children will have the opportunity to interview Lizzie Berry about her job roles and links to our school. This will happen before the February half-term.

Spelling Shed

Thank you for the update regarding the spellings lists currently online, we are having a bit of a technical glitch with the website. Please refer to your child's spelling book for the correct list until this problem can be resolved.

Voices - Choral Event - Monday 29th April 2024

Please return the permission slip back to school as soon as possible. The deadline for this was today - Monday 29th January 2024. This event is a wonderful collaboration of RISE schools across the Trust and is an unforgettable experience for the pupils. We will share more information with you very soon. The children will have a singing lesson led by Singing coach next Wednesday afternoon, at school. (Wednesday 7th February).

Many thanks for the warm welcome back.

Any queries, just ask :D

Mrs Greer & Mrs Mitchell

Wishing you all a very happy Christmas and a healthy New Year!

Welcome back to the Autumn second half term.

Dear Parents/Carers,

Please find below key information about Year 4's routines and learning. You can also browse the class letter sent out at the start of term.

Reading books and diaries -Reading is at the heart of what we do at St Luke’s, so children should continue to take books home to read. Please make sure you sign your child’s reading diary in order for them to change their reading book. We want to encourage children to read as much as possible, as it is so beneficial for their learning in all areas of the curriculum.

PE – Monday and Wednesday. Please send your child in their PE uniform, (tracksuit with trainers, but no football kit or clothes with logos please) suitable for the weather as we plan to be outside for some of the sessions. Make sure earrings are removed for health and safety reasons.

Homework – will be set each Wednesday and will appear on our Year 4 class page. Children should complete their task by the following Wednesday.

Spellings – tests will be carried out every Wednesday and spelling books will be returned on Thursdays. Spellings can also be practised online throughout the week  on https://www.edshed.com/using your child’s login details.

Library- Children will have the opportunity to borrow books from our lovely library on a regular basis. Please ensure that library books are returned after the third week.

Mental Maths- Mental Maths tests will be carried out every Wednesday, with new ones handed out every Thursday.

Children should continue to use TTRockstars and will be set battles online periodically throughout the year.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns,  you can contact us via the school office, either by phone or email, or you can see either of us directly after school.

Kind regards,
Mrs Mitchell & Mrs Priestley
