It is a great privilege to welcome you to St Luke’s Church of England Primary School. As Headteacher, I am incredibly proud to be part of such a caring, welcoming and ambitious school community, where every child is known, valued and encouraged to flourish.

St Luke’s is a single-form entry school situated in the village of Thurnby, on the edge of Leicester. We are fortunate to have a wonderful setting and, more importantly, a strong sense of family and community. Our school is a place where children are encouraged to grow not only academically, but spiritually, morally, socially, emotionally and physically.

At the heart of our school is our Christian vision: ‘Through God’s love, we are the rich soil where roots grow and seeds flourish’ (Luke 8:4–15). This vision shapes the way we care for one another, the way we learn and the way we encourage every child to discover and develop their individual gifts and talents. We want our children to leave St Luke’s as confident, compassionate and resilient young people, ready to make a positive difference in the world around them.

Our five school values – kindness, thankfulness, forgiveness, perseverance and aspiration – are woven through the life of our school. They help our children to understand the importance of treating others with respect, learning from mistakes, being grateful, persevering when things are difficult and always striving to be the very best version of themselves.

We believe that children thrive when they feel safe, happy, loved and listened to. Our dedicated staff work hard to create an environment where children feel a strong sense of belonging and are excited to learn. We provide a rich, broad and inclusive curriculum which develops knowledge, curiosity, creativity and confidence, while ensuring that every child is challenged and supported to achieve their very best.

We also recognise the vital role that families play in children’s education. We value our relationships with parents, carers, governors, our church and the wider community, and believe that by working together we can give our children the strongest possible foundations for their future.

I feel very fortunate to lead a school with such wonderful children, dedicated staff and supportive families. There is a real sense of warmth and togetherness at St Luke’s, alongside a shared ambition for our children to flourish.
